Vegan Shortbread – Celebrate Christmas

Vegan Shortbread

Vegan Shortbread is the modern, healthier, cruelty free version of the modified recipe which dates back nearly eight hundred years. Shortbread was originally introduced to the market as a biscuit bread which was made from left-over bread dough that had been sweetened and dried in the oven to form a hard, dry rusk. This custom belonged to the whole of the British Isles not just to Scotland and remains a tasty British favourite.

Over time leavening was lost from the recipe and butter was added changing the recipe from a bread base to a crumbly rusk base. This made shortbread an expensive treat that was only bought or made for special occasions and celebrations such as Christmas and Hogsmanay. The large amount of butter is what makes shortbread so crumbly and addictive. When making vegan shortbread make sure you use dairy free butter that is free from hydrogenated fats.

Today, shortbread is an abundant favourite among the British Isles and is more abundant than ever at Christmas. In fact I’d go as far as to say it wouldn’t be Christmas with out shortbread. You can have lots of family fun making and decorating shortbread with your children at Christmas and it makes a wonderful, cheaper but more thoughtful Christmas gift.

So here’s my favourite vegan shortbread Christmas Recipe that will leave you wanting to make a second, third and fourth batch.

PREP TIME      5 mins

COOK TIME    15 mins

TOTAL TIME   20 mins

Serves around: 20 cookies

Perfect for Christmas day or to give as gifts!

200g / ¾ cup + 2tbsp dairy-free butter

1 tsp vanilla paste or essence

100g / ½ cup caster sugar

300g / 2½ cups plain flour, sifted

Cream the butter, vanilla and sugar together. Stir in the flour and mix into a dough. Wrap in cling film and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to firm up.

Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 160c / 140c (fan) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

Once the dough is chilled, roll out to approximately ½ cm thickness and cut into shapes. Place on the baking sheet, sprinkle with a little extra sugar and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown at the edges, turning half way through to ensure even baking.

Leave to cool for at least 10 minutes before decorating. Decorate the biscuits however you fancy, we’ve made ours into Christmas Trees.

Then place in a box, bag or jar, sift a small mixture of cinnamon and icing sugar over the arrangement (if required), package and give away.

Low-Carb Diets – They’re Not Good For You!

Dr Michael Greger, M.D wrote that a Low-Carb Diet is Metabolically Like Being Obese. But doesn’t this go against everything that the popularist diet books tell us. Why does Dr Greger tell us different?

It’s plain and simple. Each and every year Dr Gregor reads the published research on all aspects of health and well-being so you don’t have to. He then filters the down to the ‘general public who want to be educated’.  Along with other professionals such as Dr Ornish, Dr Campbell, Dr Bernard and Dr McDougall Dr Greger tries to provide us with balanced information that can help us to choose wisely.

I’m not an expert on Carbs, high or low but I do know that once you take refined carbs out of your diet and stick to a plant based diet your metabolism, weight and optimal health return to normal. I’ve tried it, I’ve just lost two stone or 28 pounds in just six months following Dr McDougall’s Starch Solution book. I feel amazing, I have more energy than my normal and I can breath again. My allergies and asthma symptoms are reducing significantly. AND WHY? Because I listened then I took Action.

Anyhow, because I’m not a specialist I thought that I’d bring the information straight to your table from someone who is.  The below information is taken from Dr Greger’s website and is straight to the point.

Have a great read, absorb the information and take ACTION!

How a Low-Carb Diet is Metabolically Like Being Obese

Written by: Michael Greger M.D. FACLM on November 22nd, 2016

‘Free fatty acids (meaning fat circulating in the bloodstream not packaged into triglycerides) result in inflammation, toxic fat breakdown products, and oxidative stress, which can gum up the insulin receptor pathway and lead to insulin resistance in our muscles. Insulin resistance is what causes pre-diabetes and type 2 diabetes. I explain the process in my video What Causes Insulin Resistance? As the level of fat in the blood rises, the body’s ability to clear sugar from the blood drops dramatically.

Where does this fat in our blood that’s wreaking all this havoc come from? It comes from the fat that we eat and from the fat that we wear.

The number of fat cells we have stays constant in adulthood. The way researchers figured that out is by measuring the amount of radioactive carbon still trapped in our DNA from all the nuclear bomb tests. After massive weight loss, our fat cells shrink as they offload fat, but the number stays the same. Conversely, when we gain weight, our fat cells stretch as we pack more and more into each individual fat cell. So, when our belly, butt, or thighs get big, we’re not adding more fat cells, we’re just cramming more fat into each cell. At a certain point, our cells become so bloated that they spill fat back into the bloodstream.

This is called the spillover effect. Not only does an obese person have more fat, but they’re constantly spilling that fat into their bloodstream. So, that could be the link between obesity and diabetes. Fat is spilling out from our fat cells and gets lodged in our muscle cells, leading to the insulin resistance that promotes the onset of type 2 diabetes. I show this in my video The Spillover Effect Links Obesity to Diabetes.

The fat can also enter our bloodstream through our mouths. If you put people on a low-carb diet, fat builds up in their muscles within two hours and insulin sensitivity drops. And the more fat found in the muscles, the lower the ability to clear sugar from the blood. It doesn’t take years for this to happen, just hours after fatty foods go into our mouths. A fat-rich diet can increase fat in the blood, and this increase is accompanied by a decrease in insulin sensitivity.

Studies clearly demonstrate that fat in the blood directly inhibits glucose transport and usage in our muscles, which is responsible for clearing about 85% of the glucose out of the blood. These findings indicate that fat consumption can play an important role in the development of insulin resistance.

Normally, we only have 10 to 50 micromoles of free fat floating around in our blood stream at any one time, but those who are obese have between 60 to 80. But, we can reach 80 just eating a high fat diet. So, a skinny person eating a low-carb diet can have the same level of fat in their blood that obese people do. Similarly, being obese is like eating some horrible bacon and butter diet all day, because obese persons are constantly spilling fat into their bloodstream, no matter what goes in their mouths.

Are all types of fat the same? Find out the answer in my video Lipotoxicity: How Saturated Fat Raises Blood Sugar.

The fat leaking into our bloodstream may also contain fat-soluble pollutants that accumulated from our diet: Pollutants in Salmon and Our Own Fat.

The spillover effect may also help explain the increased heart disease risk associated with obesity: Low Carb Diets and Coronary Blood Flow.’

Plant based Diet includes pizza

A plant-based diet can detoxify the body of pollutants associated with a meat and dairy full diet. Even if you took one step towards eating more plant-based in your diet you could help to lengthen your lifespan. And yes you can definitely eat a great pizza on a plant based diet.

Eating meat and other animal products are also associated with weight gain something that we all are trying to avoid. It also leads to a shortened lifespan and other negative health effects such as diabetes and coronary heart disease.

This is because meat contains a high amount of saturated fat, trans fats, sulfur dioxide, arachidonic acid, and heme iron which are all toxic to our bodies.  Heme Iron is the bad for us iron that we ingest when eating meat. Meat, fish, dairy, and eggs increase exposure to dietary antibiotics, industrial toxins, mercury and other toxic heavy metals, advanced glycation end-products (AGEs), cadmium, xenoestrogens in fish, and estrogenic meat carcinogens which have an aging effect on the body. With age, especially aging caused by a poor diet life threatening illnesses are inevitable.

Contrary to popular myth, vegans have healthy bones and higher blood protein levels than omnivores. Most vegans get more than enough protein. Legumes and pulses are a valuable source of protein. Vegans and Vegetarians can also obtain protein form Spirulina and Chia Seeds.

Studies have shown that within a few weeks of participation on a plant based diet participants experienced improvements in blood pressure, cholesterol and insulin levels, insulin resistance, and C-reactive protein levels.

Plant based Vegans have fewer nutrient deficiencies than average omnivores while maintaining a lower body weight without losing muscle mass. Those eating plant-based diets appear to experience enhanced athletic recovery without affecting the benefits of exercise. The arteries of vegans appear healthier than even long-distance endurance athletes and those on low-carb diets. Image result for b12 supplements

There are two vitamins not available in plants: vitamins D and B12. There is a serious risk of B12 deficiency if no supplements or B12-fortified foods are consumed. Always take a reliable vitamin B12 supplement, do not rely on fortified fioods for your vitamin B12 supply. The only reason meat contains B12 is because the animals have consumed it and not because that’s where it comes from.

Two other nutrients to monitor are iodine and zinc. Yeast- or algae-based long chain omega 3 fatty acids are also considered be beneficial, but not technically vegan.

Current medical training continues to under emphasize nutrition education, meaning patients often do not receive information about all of the options for treatment. Doctors report they don’t practice preventative cardiology because they fear their patients won’t change their diet. Kaiser Permanente has begun more aggressive efforts to inform his patients about the advantages of a plant-based diets.

Vitamin D is a nutrient found in some foods that is needed for health and to maintain strong bones. It does so by helping the body absorb calcium from food and supplements. People who get too little vitamin D may develop soft, thin, and brittle bones, a condition known as rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults.

Vitamin D is important to the body in many other ways. Vitamin D is required by muscles in order  to move, for example, nerves need it to carry messages between the brain and every body part, and the immune system needs vitamin D to fight off invading bacteria and viruses. Together with calcium, vitamin D also helps protect older adults from osteoporosis. Vitamin D is found in cells throughout the body. Vitamin D is activated by Sunlight, make sure you get out walking each day even if it is for ten minutes.

If significantly more people moved to plant-based diets, medicare costs could go down by billions of dollars throughout the western world. A move from animal based diets to a plant-based diets will also help lessen greenhouse gas emissions and have a significant impact on the environment and global warming.

We know that the transition from animal to a plant based diet is a hard one, especially considering what we’ve been told by our parents, doctors, teachers and the medical industry. We can however should you vast amounts of research that confirm that a plant based diet significantly increases the health and well-being of an individual.

There is a rather interesting talk on the dangers of eating meat which was given to the Hawaii vegetarian society by Dr Oliveira on the dangers of eating meat.

Dr. Oliveira explains how a whole food, plant-based diet changes the way genes are turned on and off to promote longevity.  A closer look into the Blue Zones and the Mediterranean diet reveals why it works. (Hint: It is not the fish, the olive oil, or the wine!)

Content is Key

content is king

I write blogs for website across the globe. From food blogs to car blogs, I’ve even written blogs on reptiles. I provide content for a mahusive number of websites and my clients always ask me the same question. ‘How do I get more traffic’. Up until now I’ve been telling them that it’s a content thing. Google loves good content. Content, content, content. But am I right? Is this all that it takes or is there something else that the online industry is missing?

Is the road to growth paved with content? If you write, film, record, and produce killer content will the world will rush to your website. I’m not so sure, in fact I am sure that the answer is no.

Whatever happened to selling yourself, your products or your services? It seems as though the online industry has taken complete leave of its senses. Has it lost touch with… reality? Or is it just taking the easy option?

We’ve become a global online nation of ‘Fearists’. We have become fearful of exposure and judgment. We’re terrified of exposing ourselves in the flesh. We dread failure and rejection. We don’t want to go out there in person and be in a physical room with other humans just in case everything we’ve worked to create falls flat on its face and we are exposed as the incapable, incompetent numpties that we are (NOT).

It’s easier isn’t it, to just stick our stuff online and expect traffic to rush in and buy whatever it is that we have to offer. Newsflash! ‘It aint ever gonna happen’! Life, even online isn’t like that.

Ok, so let’s get our thoughts straight, when people ignore our content they are just ignoring our ideas not us, right? Wrong! We are our ideas. Our ideas are what makes us. If we spend hours and hours creating interesting, well thought out content and still no one comes then there must be something wrong with us, right? Wrong! We just haven’t yet done what it takes to be out there with the big boys.

Ok so let’s be honest now: Content, is king isn’t it? But it’s not the be all and end all by itself. It’s a Wooptastic tool to build an idea into a platform, a brand, a reputation, position, entity, business, organisation or anything else you want to include. Content is your long-game, but it’s not your only now game. What about the cool stuff that we all need to do but don’t necessarily do. Stuff like:

Content Verses Old Fashioned Get Out There and Do It Stuff

       Such As:

  • Advertising
  • Hosting and attending meet-ups and events
  • Organizing publicity opportunities
  • Speaking to the right people, in the right place, about the right things at the right time
  • Guerrilla marketing (not with real Guerrillas of course)
  • Building and participating in online and offline groups
  • Coffees, lunches, brunches and drinks and maybe a few more drinks
  • Building meaningful relationships (mostly with strangers who’ll become partners, business partners of course)

If you’re interested in reading up on how old fashioned marketing is still alive and kicking, why not pop over to our friends at and see what they have to say.

Do I Seriously, Have To Mix With Real Life Humans?

Yes you do!

That’s right going out there and meeting real people, people who might hate us or love what we have to offer. People who might think that our ideas are mad, crazy or may think that we have the next Eureka Idea.

When you are looking to go from zero to successful hero in 0-60 you must be willing to go a little slower for longer, endurance along with content is key. You can’t just put videos, podcasts, editorial and images out there hoping someone will discover them, follow them back to you, fall in love with you and pay huddles of money on the spot. Nooo, you need to build relationships, earn trust, get yourself out there with google ads and anything else that’ll help, including the dreaded social media platform. Speak to everyone in your niche, find out what they are doing and copy it. Don’t plagiarise their content, make it your own, speak in content as you do in life.

As an introverted, sensitive type o’ girl, I don’t like anymore than you do to get myself out there. But you’ve got to! You see, when people come to my website all they see is words, they don’t see me, my traits, ambitions, passions, aims or goals, just words on a page. Is anyone gonna buy words on a page. Maybe but probably not. On the other hand, if I presented myself, in person with their interests at heart and sold them what they really need, would they buy. Yes, if the price was right.

So, when you are looking to get more traffic to your website remember to use the old fashioned methods as well as the new content methods and you’ll go far.

What about SEO Isabella?

I deliberately haven’t covered SEO in this blog, that’s for another day as I can ramble on all day about SEO. But if you’d like to read more on how content affects SEO then why not pop over to Contently for more info  or/and Inc: for the low down on last years trends. 2016 has only just started, looking back on the past might give you ideas for yet more content.

Becoming a Successful Entrepreneur in 2015

Becoming a successful entrepreneur

Becoming a successful entrepreneurBecoming a successful entrepreneur or business owner isn’t as easy as everyone thinks it is. If it was, everyone would be doing it. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication foresight and training. Whilst the basics of starting up a new business are important there are many other things to consider such as education, skills, research and tools. There are several factors that are important for any start-up or expanding business to engage in but the five top reasons as to why new businesses can and do can be found at A surface look at the top five main factors can be below.

Becoming a successful entrepreneur involves conducting your Research Properly

Why do people just launch straight into a business start-up with an idea? If you haven’t done your market research properly the odds on your business failing are pretty high.

Startups mainly fail due to a poor fit in their market. For most, they find a great product or service that they love and apply their own thoughts and needs to the product or service without actually Identify the value it will provide for their chosen market and how it will impact on the market and potential customer base. Neither do they consider how they will reach customers effectively and efficiently.

So, you have a business product, service or idea, the question you should be asking yourself is, not how many I will sell or how much money I can make but does it show irrefutable value to the customer, does it cater for supply and demand, is there any demand? Is your target groups problem significant enough to sustain your success? How will your product or service change with time? What are the triggers that will make your customers purchase from you rather than your competition? What value are you offering? Etc., etc.

Recent studies have been carried out on what factors make a business successful or not and out of every possible factor, timing came out as the top factor for success. If you have the right product at the wrong time, you’re not going to succeed. The question is: Is your market timing finely tuned? Is your market ready for your product or service, if not change your product, service or idea until it becomes finely tuned with what the market needs and wants.

Becoming a successful entrepreneur means you have to use the right tools

The internet is absolutely choker block full of useful business tools but how do you know which tools will work best for you and your business. If you focus on what existing successful business owners have to say on which tools work best for them and follow their example you won’t go wrong.

Tools such as, , , and are great if you are just starting out marketing your business. Make sure you test an array of marketing tools before you settle for one or the other. You need to find the best fit for your business and your skills in terms of budget and usability in order to get a great return on your investment.

As for specific business tools which are necessary for the efficient and effective running of any start-up, we’ll cover them in the next blog.

Becoming a successful entrepreneur means preparing for change

Change – what a dirty word? Change is one of those words that send most people running in an opposite direction. However, it should come as no surprise that successful entrepreneurs and business owners welcome change. The business world and the global economy are anything other than predicable and as such a level of calculated risk has to be undertaken to survive in the business world. In order to make the change to your business in order to move with the times you must prepare for a change in market expectations, trends and products/service needs.

Change is the constant in any business environment whether you are an entrepreneur, SME or a global company. Having the willingness and eagerness to embrace and adapt to change will give you a competitive edge over other businesses in your market. By positioning yourself to stay on top of trend shifts you can strive to always remain ahead of your competition. Whatever the trend is do it well, do it better than your competition and do it before your competition.

Whatever problem you may be facing or are projected to face, make sure you implement change quickly regardless of any challenges that you may face. Don’t give up at the first hurdle, change, change and change again until you have overcome the obstacles and get your business back on track for success. Successful business people do not give up and they are not resistant to change.

Successful entrepreneurs apply Pareto’s Principle

In business as in life, 80 percent of all results are achieved from 20 percent of our efforts. Most of us waste the majority of our time, resources and money doing what we think is right, or how we’ve been told to conduct our business or affairs, or how we are expected to conduct our business. If your business has the ethos of, ‘it has always been done this way’, change it. Change the ethos and your mind set fast. The times are changing, what is needed and expected is changing and more importantly you need to change the math. Make sure 20% of what you are doing reaps in 80% of the money/income/dosh. If you’re not prepared to make this change, you may can end up losing everything whereas; successful business owners focus on the 20 percent that matters the most, and outsource the remainder to virtual assistant companies.

Becoming a successful entrepreneur means providing customers with amazing service

Many businesses fail due to customer service, or the lack of it. When customers buy from you they expect to go on a journey. A simple example would be when I was in Rome. I went to a simple and small cake shop for cheesecake as it was my birthday. The shopkeeper was happy talking away about how the business had been in his family for over a hundred years and that the recipes were authentic. The shop looked like I’d stepped back in time and was just wonderful. Although I was overwhelmed by the look of the shop and the specialness of the cheesecake I had chosen, the journey didn’t stop there. I took the bag from the shopkeeper, wished him a good day and returned home. When I opened the bag I found a lovely little message and the cheesecake was wrapped in gold tissue paper. What a lovely experience and yes, I went back again and I told my friends too, who also went to the little cake shop. You see, the owner offered more than just the product, he offered an experience, and he took me on a journey. There’s a valued business lesson to be learnt from this story. Don’t focus on the sale; focus on providing great customer service.

Customer service isn’t just about handling complaints and resolving issues; it involves creating loyal customer service program, staff loyalty programmes and incentives for customers and other businesses alike to embark on the journey that you offer by referring others to your business.

STARTING YOUR OWN CONSULTANCY BUSINESS  – In just about any field is possible

Starting your own consultancy business isn’t as hard as it sounds. All you have to do is have an idea, a field of specialism and the gaul to get up and do it. Experience is one of those things that you build up along the way. As long as you know enough about your chosen field to be able to answer any practical questions and to solve your clients business problems and provide solutions you’ll be able to go it alone as a consultant.

There are so many opportunities out there to be taken yet most people let them pass bye. Why? Some may think they haven’t got what it takes; some don’t consider themselves experts and others simply find it too much hard work. Each and everyone of us has a talent that we can specialise in, whether it’s gardening, cooking or sewing to programming. Yet starting a consulting business is far from people’s minds and is one of the most lucrative ways of drawing on your expertise and creatively making use of your skills.

Yes it’s a popular field to go into but there are so many areas which you could specialise in, it is nearly impossible to saturate a niche market – and potentially very lucrative for would-be business owners. The consulting industry is worth billions globally and a good consultant could earn up to £500 per hour depending on the field of expertise, location and credibility.

Many people enter the consulting field from all different backgrounds and easily find their niche. If you are ready to become your own boss and set yourself free from the 9 – 5 slave trade then start by following the few simple points below to get started.

BUILD YOUR REPUTATION BEFORE GOING IT ALONE Spend a little time in your niche helping others establish their needs. i.e. if you are going to be a business consultant start by helping local, small businesses get on their feet. Don’t charge for your time initially, as word of mouth and a good reputation will serve you well in gaining new clients. Always remember that any expertise that you have gained in your field is not wasted, if you put it into practice what you know by helping others.

PARTNER WITH OTHER BUSINESSES For some, building their company or brand name is of utmost importance, they can’t see themselves credible without it. If name recognition is more of an issue than expertise is for you, start by looking for a local and established company to partner with. This partnership will allow you to build your name, define your services and reach clients that you wouldn’t ordinarily have access.

MAKE A CLEAR DISTINCTION BETWEEN YOUR SERVICES AND THOSE OF SIMILAR COMPANIES One of the most important things to remember when setting up a consulting business is that it is important to call yourself a consultant from day one. So many people do not set themselves up as consultants from the beginning which means that potential customers may not find you or your services credible once you start to call yourself a consultant. Be very clear about the services that you can offer, if you offer business consultancy, don’t advertise non related services to your customers or on your site. If you start off calling yourself anything else than a consultant of XXX services from the start, your potential customers will be confused as to what you are all about.

Make sure your business and your services are clearly defined. If you want to reap the full benefit of being a consultant and for what you are offering, you must only see yourself as a consultant. Consultants earn more money than contractors or a freelancers., it’s as simple as that.

If you are interested in starting up your own business as a consultant make sure that you invest in yourself first. Nothing in this life or industry is rewarded by inactivity. Learn as much as you can, do as much as you can and revise what you’ve done on a regular basis. There’s always room to grow and expand and that’s where you will grow in expertise and confidence. It’s also how you will find your customers, from the need to grow.

Google Sniper: The Review 2015

This review’s 100% unbiased and without prejudice, so without further  ado, let’s press on!

My name is Isabella Hawke, Owner of a business administration outsourcing company. As part of my business I’m often asked to review products, services, books and applications. I was recently asked to review Google Sniper by a friend of mine . Google Sniper is the brain child of George Brown. ‘Who?’ I hear you say. George Brown is an extremely successful Internet marketer, who at the age of 17 made more than half a million dollars in year 2010 alone through the launch of Google Sniper. He made every penny without spending a single dime on generating traffic. Sniper has also enabled more than 50 other people to successfully quit their day jobs and accomplish financial freedom by making a full-time income on the Internet. Google Sniper is one of clickbanks bestselling products.

Consequently, George achieved remarkable success with his Internet marketing system as a result he decided to package it as Google Sniper. The components of the Google Sniper system are available in PDF format and can also be learnt from through video tutorials.

This system works well for users of all levels, from beginners to advanced Internet marketers. Google Sniper teaches you how to gain £$’s from a system of blogs and/or websites for generating additional or full-time income.

The Google Sniper system will enable you to learn the following:

  • How to determine and profit from ‘profitable niches’?
  • How to find profitable keywords for each niche?
  • How to determine which products are in line with the niches you have chosen?

Google Sniper is a 3-step process that must be executed exactly to the tee as explained by George. These 3 steps are as follows:

  1. Pick out the right type of click bank products for promotion.
  2. Create sniper websites by integrating profitable keywords.
  3. Study the flow of traffic & making the required changes to maximize the results.

Throughout the program, you’ll be taught how to create sniper sites using WordPress. You’ll also be taught the correct usage of some of the best plug-ins to help you get ranked fast on the first page of Google. This system is ahead of the game as it shows you how to find the most profitable keywords and subsequently get them ranked ahead of all the competition on Google.

The method explained in the Google Sniper system involves targeting of certain keywords with the help of exact match domains (EMD) and gradually makes those domains authority websites in their particular niches. Eeeeeeerrrrrrrrm, WHAT? Yes you heard. In simple terms it means that an EMD is an SEO technique that produces positive results and in turn raises your SEO value.

They are then told, their pay will be via cashier’s check, but oddly it’s for more then owed. The worker is told to deposit the check and send the difference to the employer’s overseas bank account. Eventually, the cashier’s check bounces and owe their bank the amount of the whole check.

Get What You Want in 7 Powerful Steps

In my most recent columns we’ve covered issues about improving your business and marketing, but today let’s start right at the beginning.

You’re really getting tired of the 9 to 5 “rat race” and are thinking about chucking it for your own business. All your friends keep telling you that you could do for yourself just what you’re doing now for your boss. Why shouldn’t you profit from your ideas instead of him?

You keep thinking about it because you know that you’ll never be financially where you want to be with a weekly paycheck, but what business would you start?

Before you pack in that weekly paycheck, this is the time to evaluate yourself and your future and it takes some real, down to heart honesty. You want to change your life for the better, so let’s start.

Did you know that you have the potential to do and be anything you want? People have different perceptions of the ideal life, and it ranges from obtaining financial freedom to as simple as owning a new pair of sneakers. Unfortunately, many fail to reach their aspirations because they can’t get a solid, clear picture in their mind of what they want.

Take the next few days and embark on a fact-finding journey that will be a life-changing experience. Get a pad and pencil and start with this first step:

STEP 1 – KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT – Be specific in your passions, then focus all your efforts on that particular desire.

Those who always change their minds and those who give up easily when the going gets tough will never get anywhere. If you’re a bit confused and aren’t sure what you really want in life answer these questions:

  1. What makes your heart beat with excitement?

  2. What makes you happy?

  3. What are you constantly thinking of day and night?

  4. What do you want to do with the rest of your life?

  5. What do you enjoy doing?

  6. What are your obsessions?

  7. What things make you jump for joy?

Write down all your possible answers to the above questions. Write down everything, no matter how silly or unimportant it seems. Put all your desires on paper that answers any of the above questions.

When that’s done, go back and circle five to seven items that interest you the most. Then evaluate and choose with your heart, not your mind, the one and only thing worthy to spend all your time and resources on and that brings out the best in you.

Now you may wind up with something like, “I want to play quarterback for the RAMS.” If you’re over 20 I’d say that isn’t too viable a choice, but you could do something related to football or sports. How about starting a sports publication? Or perhaps a sporting goods retail business, sports memorabilia business, or even a gym could be the answer. You can always read books and surf the net to help you in your search.

The most important thing to remember, no matter how “pie in the sky” it seems, is to USE YOUR HEART. Others may disagree with you, but you should be firm with what you really want. Others may offer comments or advice, but the final decision is always yours to make. You should concentrate on what you want, not what others want.

Remember you only get one shot at living your life. There are no replays and you don’t get to do it over. You may not do it right, but at least you’re doing it. Too many lives have been lived in quiet desperation waiting until – until they had saved a nest egg, until the children are out of school, until I retire, and they depart this life before “until” ever arrives.

Don’t go to sleep tonight without making a decision on WHAT YOU REALLY WANT IN LIFE MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE.

Then spend a few days evaluating how to make it possible and make a living at it. Begin living every day as if it were the last day you had – never leaving anything to be done next week, next month, or next year.

There will always be bills, things will always break down eventually and need replacing, there may be storms and earthquakes and repairs – but there will only be one life for you to live. It can’t be put on “hold”!

The final outcome of your efforts may be in the future, but you’re living each day by taking steps toward that outcome.

An Automated Ordering System

When you have an online company, it only makes sense to use all the online resources available. The payments you accept should be credit card and paypal, if you choose. Are you going to accept international orders. If you are going to receive orders daily, which is the goal, you will want to use an online shopping cart that automatically accepts the credit card, approves it and delivers the autoresponder emails and in the end, the product itself.

What exactly is an online shopping cart. It is a lot like a regular shopping cart, where you can add or remove items as you please. It calculates shipping and taxes and the total of the purchase and passes this information along to the merchant account by a secure site, which protects the customers’ information.

Choosing a shopping cart is crucial because if you choose the right one, it can double your sales. Imagine trying to purchase a product and you are entering all your information when you order and the pages take forever to load. Or worse, there are too many forms to fill out or you cannot find the pricing or product list easily. You would abandon that idea pretty quickly.

In addition, you will also need a reputable merchant account that can handle the amount of sales you are going to send their way. You do not want to find a merchant account that requests a very high escrow fund, because this can be difficult to come up with. Before you launch your product, you need to make sure you have a way to provide customer service.

You could hire a fulfillment house that takes care of customer service, orders, credit cards, and shipping all at once. But, if you intend to have a lot of business, this is not very cost effective. It would be much easier to take care of the customer service with paid employees and have a special fulfillment house only duplicate, package, and ship products for you.

Million Dollar Sales Letters

Regardless of what you’re trying to sell, you really can’t sell it without “talking” with your prospective buyer. An in attempting to sell anything on the Internet, the sales letter you send out is when and how you talk to your prospect.

All winning sales letters “talk” to the prospect by creating an image in the mind of the reader. They set “the scene” by appealing to a desire or need; and then they flow smoothly into the “visionary” part of the sales pitch by describing in detail how “wonderful” life will be and, how “good” the prospect is going to feel after he’s purchased your product. This is the “body or guts” of a sales letter.

Overall, a winning sales letter follows a time-tested and proven formula: 1) Get his attention 2) Get him interested in what you can do for him 3) Make him desire the benefits of your product so badly his mouth begins to water 4) Demand action from him – tell him to click the right button or send for whatever it is you’re selling without delay – any procrastination on his part might cause him to lose out. This is called the “AIDA” formula (Attention, Interest, Desire and Action) – it works.

On your website, your sales page should be the length of what it would be if were doing a mailing, or longer if you’re using bullets to emphasize benefits to build the desire. Of course on the Internet you don’t have to worry about letterhead stationery or the cost of postage, which is a considerable savings. If, however, you want to also do a mailing campaign then the following would apply. The sales letters in mailings that pull in the most sales are almost always two pages with 1 1/2 spaces between lines. For really big ticket items, they’ll run at least four pages. – on an 11 by 17 sheet of paper folded in half. If your sales letter is only two pages in length, there’s nothing wrong with running it on the front and back of one sheet of 8 1/2 by 11 paper. However, your sales letter should always be on letterhead paper – your letterhead printed, and including your logo and business motto if you have one.

Regardless of the length of your sales letter, it should do one thing, and that’s sell, and sell hard! If you intend to close the sale, you’ve got to do it with your sales letter. You should never be “wishy-washy” with your sales letter. You do the actual selling and the closing of that sale with your sales letter – any brochure or circular you send along with in your mailing will just reinforce what you say in the sales letter.

There’s been a great deal of discussion in the past few years regarding just how long a sales letter should be. A lot of people are asking: Will people really take the time to read a long sales letter? The answer is a simple and time-tested yes indeed! Surveys and tests over the years emphatically prove that “longer sales letters” pull even better than the shorter ones, so don’t worry about the length of your sales letter – just make sure that it sells your product for you!

The “inside secret” is to make your sales letter so interesting, and “visionary” with the benefits you’re offering to the reader, that he can’t resist reading it all the way through. You break up the “work” of reading by using short, punchy sentences, underlining important points you’re trying to make, with the use of subheadlines, indentations and even the use of a second color, and leaving lots of white space around it. On your website, the sales letter should run down the middle of the page so the viewer doesn’t have to keep adjusting the screen to see the whole sentence. This is very distracting and more apt to send that client to another website than losing patience reading a long letter.

Relative to the brochures and circulars you may want to include in your mailing with your sales letter – providing the materials you’re enclosing are of the best quality, they will generally reinforce the sale for you. But, if they are of poor quality, look cheap and don’t compliment your sales letter, then you shouldn’t be using them. Another thing, it will definitely classify you as an independent home worker if you hand-stamp your name/address on these brochures or advertising circulars instead of having them printed.

Whenever possible, and so long as you have really good brochures to send out, have your printer run them through his press and print your name/address – even your telephone number and company logo – on them before you send them out. The thing is, you want your prospect to think of you as his supplier – the company – and not as just another independent entrepreneur. Sure, you can get by with less expense but you’ll end up with fewer orders and in the end, less profits.

Another thing that’s been bandied about and discussed from every direction for years is whether to use a post office box number or your street address. Personally, I don’t like Post Office Boxes in a business address – because it transmits an aura of instability or temporary location. If your business is run from home, get a mail box from a post box vendor that has a street address. Then your address looks like, 1234 Willow Lane, #567, Your Town, and the box number could appear to the reader as a Suite number. However, if you live in a remote area where your address is 7890 Main St., RFD 42, Box 123, Your Town, then you have no choice but to include both your post office box number, AND, your street address on your sales letter. When doing it strictly for your website, put your street address, telephone number, and email address at the bottom of the page. More than likely, the customer will contact you by email, but it conveys dependability if that Internet buyer sees that you’re willing to give your address. This kind of open display of your honesty will give you credibility and dispel the thought of you being just another “fly-by-night” mail order company in the mind of your prospect.

Above all else, you’ve got to include some sort of ordering page or coupon if you’re mailing. The coupon has to be as simple and as easy for the prospect to fill out and return to you as you can possible make it. The order page on your website should already be filled out, with perhaps just the shipping left to choice. If your product is an eBook or software to be instantly downloaded, then you don’t have any options to be chosen. A great many sales are lost because this order coupon is just too complicated for the would-be buyer to follow. Don’t get fancy! Keep it simple, and you’ll find your prospects responding with glee.

Should you or shouldn’t you include in your mailing a self-addressed reply envelope? There are a lot of variables, as well as, pros and cons to this question. Overall, when you send out a “winning” sales letter to a good mailing list, a return reply envelope will increase your response tremendously.

Tests of late seem to indicate that it isn’t that big a deal or difference in responses relative to whether you do or don’t pre-stamp the return reply envelope. Again, the decision here will rest primarily on the product you’re selling and the mailing list you’re using. Our recommendation is that you experiment – try it both ways – with subsequent mailings and decide for yourself from there.

Work at Home as a Home-Based Business Entrepreneur

Being an entrepreneur is very appealing but not everyone can become one. One of the quickest and easiest ways to become a successful entrepreneur is by working at home through a home-based entrepreneur business.

Firstly, you need to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses. After the evaluation, you can now determine if you can manage your own online business. Aside from the evaluation process, you must know how to plan, organize, staff, and control. These are your responsibilities as an entrepreneur. You should be able to work alone because now you’re the boss and all business decisions will be made by you.

Some say that online businesses can be run without many problems. Well, they are very wrong because even with an online business, you have to deal with certain business problems and risks. You can’t eliminate such risks because that goes hand in hand with any business undertaking, both for online and offline businesses. However, you can reduce the risks that you’re bound to deal with in the future by choosing the best home-based entrepreneur business that will work for you.

Entrepreneurs are known to be self-starters. Organizing your time is a difficult task but if you want to run a home-based online business, you should be able to do it. Remember, you don’t have a boss that you can rely on. This is your business and you have to be responsible for it at all times.

Running your own business would also mean that you have to deal with different kinds of persons. You will surely encounter demanding customers, moody vendors, and an unreliable staff. To become a successful home-based business entrepreneur, you should know how to deal with them individually. You should know the quirks of every person that you encounter so that you can address them and the situation correctly.

Running an online business is all about your attitude and character. According to some experts who conducted researches about the characteristics of entrepreneurs, there are certain traits that an entrepreneur should possess. As mentioned earlier, entrepreneurs are risk-takers, self-starters, and know how to deal with different kinds of people.

Those traits and characteristics are not enough. You have to have more than that. Another trait that you should possess is being an excellent decision maker. Since you’re the boss, you should be able to make quick yet effective decisions. Some situations are filled with pressures but despite the pressures, you still need to make an informed and wise decision. As owner of your online business, you have no one else to rely on when it comes to business related decisions.

To be an effective online business entrepreneur, you must have lots of energy and superior work ethic. Owning an online business may mean working even on late hours and on the weekends. However, you must not be pressured of your tasks. View them as challenges and strive even harder. Your efforts will be rewarded once you see the profits rolling in.

If you already know the responsibilities of an entrepreneur, then you can assess if you can become successful in an online business. Working at home through a home-based entrepreneur business requires dedication and hard work. You must be able to monitor your finances, tasks, inventory, work schedules, and many others. Good luck and may your chosen home-based business become a success.

What is an Entrepreneur?

People enjoy a lot of comforts as they go through life each day. Have you ever wondered who are responsible for all these life’s comforts? You have to thank the entrepreneurs for it. But, what is an entrepreneur?

Entrepreneur has many meanings. If you want to know exactly what it means, just keep on reading.

A person who assumes business responsibility and the risks that comes along with it is called an entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur, one expects to make profits, whether big or small, depending on the business he or she is involved in. generally, the entrepreneur decides which product or service to offer, obtain the needed facilities, hires the required labor force, acquire production materials, and provides for the capital.

There is no assurance that the business will become a success. However, if the business proves to be a success, the entrepreneur will reap all the benefits and rewards in terms of the profits. In case of a loss, the entrepreneur will also be the one to suffer.

Assuming business responsibilities is definitely not an easy task. Not many individuals are willing to take huge responsibilities, and most especially take all the risks. Only an experienced and knowledgeable individual will dare to become an entrepreneur. The ultimate goal of an entrepreneur is to earn profits.

By putting up a small business, you will also earn limited returns but by establishing a big business, you will also earn more profits. The choice will depend on the entrepreneur and his or her available resources.

As the most important person in a business venture, an entrepreneur will be the one to decide which product or service to offer. He or she must be able to determine the needs of the people and provide the answer to such needs. A careful study of the targeted market is required. This takes time because one can’t decide immediately what product or service to offer.

Once the products or services are identified, it is now time for the entrepreneur to obtain all the needed facilities. This will include the building or the place of business.

Along with it are the other things needed such as the office furniture, fixtures, and many other things. The capital is usually provided by the entrepreneur and a part of it will be allotted for the acquisition of the facilities. Later on, these things will be considered as one of the assets of the business.

Recruitment of the labor force is also an important part of being an entrepreneur. The business will not succeed if it doesn’t have a loyal labor force. Everyone should work together in order to achieve success. It is therefore of utmost importance to hire only the qualified employees.

As you can see, the entrepreneur has to take care of many things. This may be one reason why not many individuals are willing to become one. If the business succeeds or fails, it is all because of the entrepreneur.

Now that you know what an entrepreneur is, would you like to become one? Well, if you have the right attitude, skills, and qualifications, you too can become an entrepreneur. It would be best to embark on a humble beginning. Don’t attempt to reach the peak of success all at once. It takes hard work, dedication, and perspiration. You must take one step at a time.

So You Want Your Own Business!

There are many reasons for wanting to start your own business, and most of us get to this point. Which one of the following applies to you?

  • Freedom from daily routine.

  • Doing what I want when I want.

  • Improve my living standard.

  • I want creative freedom.

  • I want to fully use my skills, knowledge and education.

  • I have a product/idea/service that people need.

  • I’ll have more time with the family.

  • I won’t have a dress code.

  • There are good tax breaks for business owners.

  • I’m a Type B person and work best alone.

  • I want to be my own boss.

  • I want to make the decisions.

Now granted, every one of the above is a good reason for wanting your own business. The rub is, that not many people think the process through – step by step. There are 7 phases to business planning. They are:

  1. Investigation Phase

  2. Planning Phase

  3. Start-up Phase

  4. Operating/Monitoring Phase

  5. Problem/Challenge resolution Phases

  6. Renewal/Expansion Phase

  7. Selling, Transferring, Retirement Phase

We’ll cover all of the above in my next few columns as a “Business Basics” refresher, but for today let’s take number one.

In the Investigation Phase you take a look at yourself and also your business options. There are careers that are suited to personality types, so the first thing you must discern is “Which personality type am I?”

Duty Fulfillers

This is an introverted personality who is serious, quiet, thorough, orderly, matter-of-fact, logical, realistic, and dependable. They take responsibility, are well organized, know what should be accomplished and work steadily toward it disregarding distractions. They are careful calculators, and 20% of this group become accountants.

The Mechanics

These are also introverts and are cool onlookers. They are quiet, reserved, observing, and analyzing life with a detached curiosity and have unexpected flashes of original humor. They’re usually interested in cause and effect, how and why mechanical things work, and in organizing facts using logical principles. They usually are craftsmen, mechanics, or handymen with about 10% becoming farmers.

The Doers

These people are extraverts who are good at on-the-spot problem solving, don’t worry, enjoy whatever comes along, are adaptable, tolerant, and generally conservative in values. They tend to like mechanical things and sports, and dislike long explanations. They are best with “real” things that can be worked, handled, taken apart, or put together. About 10% of this type go into marketing or become Impresarios.

The Executives

These are another extravert group and are hearty, frank, decisive, leaders in activities and usually good in anything that requires reasoning and intelligent talk, such as public speaking. They’re usually well informed and enjoy adding to their fund of knowledge. They may sometimes appear more positive and confident than their experience in an area warrants. They’re sometimes called “judgers” and “thinkers” and 21% of this group become legal administrators.

To go into each personality type would be far too complicated, but to give you an idea of the roles that personality types could fall into look at the following list. Beside the categories we covered in depth here are some simply broken down into Introvert or Extravert Personality.

Introverts choose careers that satisfy being:

  • Nurturers

  • Guardians

  • Artists

  • Scientists

  • Protectors

  • Idealists

Extraverts are usually:

  • Performers

  • Visionaries

  • The Inspirers

  • Givers

  • Caregivers

The second part of the Investigating Phase is looking at your business options. When choosing the business you want to start consider the following:

  • Do you like to work with your hands or brain, or both?

  • Does working indoors or outdoors matter?

  • Are you good at math, writing, puzzles, blueprints, installing things or fixing things?

  • What interests you? What are your hobbies?

  • Do you like to work alone or as part of a team?

  • Do you like to plan things, or go to events?

  • Do you like machines, computers?

  • Do you like to drive or operate equipment?

  • Do you like to travel, collect/display things, give/attend shows, or take pictures?

  • Are you small, large, strong?

Make a list of your likes and dislikes. Keep a diary of things you do that relate to business and rate each entry from 1 to 5 based on your interest. Then prepare a list of your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and concerns. After doing all that, you should have a list of candidate businesses that are right for you. Then you can make a list of the “candidate businesses” and rate them from 1 to 5 based on your own chosen criteria.

Some criteria could be is it feasible, low in cost to establish, meets my objectives, will make money, there is a “niche” market of existing customers, or it will produce residual income to name just a few.

By the time you’ve accomplished all that, you should seriously consider visiting the local chapter of S.C.O.R.E. or your own mentor to use as a sounding board for your plan. Next week, if I haven’t dissuaded you so far, we’ll cover the Planning Phase.

Email Lists

How to Build your Opt-In List

Some companies decide to send customers a free newsletter to get an email list. But there are other ways to collect email addresses. Sometimes having a newsletter just doesn’t make any sense for your company. For instance, if you happen to sell dishwashers, how much information could you send your customer, daily, on dishwashers. So, instead here are a few other options for increasing your email list.

You could run a contest. The puzzle, game or task should be easy and straightforward so that you don’t frustrate the customer and you still get their email address in the end.

A great incentive to collect email addresses would be a free eBook. People love getting free stuff, especially eBooks that interest them. Remember, it doesn’t have to be 100 pages long; five to ten pages will work fine.

Surveying the customer is a great way to collect email addresses. You can find out what the customer likes/dislikes, and what they have problems with or need solutions for.

Advertise your opt-in offer in an e-zine or classified ad. It actually doesn’t cost tons of money and if you find the right place to advertise, you could see dramatic results.

Email signatures, or electronic signatures, also referred to as a, sig file is a three to six line footer that you can add to the bottom of each email message you send out with your name, company and a free report with a link attached. You will be surprised how many visitors you get this way. Make sure you track where you are getting your traffic by the different links you send out.

If a customer is interested in downloading an article from your web site, they will definitely have no problem providing their name and email address. They will love to receive more articles from you or have access to a members only area of your site with plenty of resources.

Offer your customers a free course or a free download to collect email addresses. They will love to get something for free. Customers who opt-in when something free is being offered think to themselves what have I got to lose. It a great deal for both of you.

Tips for Achieving Your Goals

Do you have long-term projects with short-term expectations? If you do, that is a sure path to frustration and failure.

Lifestyle goals such as exercise and healthy diet have to become habits in order to be effective. Career change also takes time and planning, and it doesn’t happen overnight.

Your world has shifted. There’s voice mail, e-mail, pagers, and faxes that have made a “waiting” period unacceptable and almost obsolete. With information immediately available, we expect relationships and goal achievement to be done the same. As you read this you know that it is unreasonable to expect that, don’t you? We’ve been led by advertisers to believe that we deserve immediate gratification, and that it is readily and effortlessly available!

When you want to train a puppy, you know that it’s going to take time and consistent reinforcement. You’re ready for that, because you want your puppy to behave in an acceptable way. Why then, are you so patient with the puppy and so hard on yourself?

When you plant seeds in the garden, you tend them, water them, hope for sunlight and nurture them. Are you nurturing yourself?

The best way to move gently and effectively towards your goals is to take a reasonable approach. Break your long-term project goal into sub-goals. Break it into doable, short-term chunks. Today prepare the soil; tomorrow plant the seeds.

Each action you take and each step is satisfying because you know that it is contributing to the completion of your goal. You cannot rush Mother Nature with your garden, and the same is true for your goals.

This process is much more than “bloom where you’re planted”, because when you’re the gardener you choose what to plant and how to nurture it. Do the same for yourself, and grow yourself beautifully. Your goals will be accomplished in due time, and you won’t end up up-tight and frazzled.

Five Easy Steps to Staying Motivated

Motivating yourself to excel at your job or to be an example to your employees, should not be something you do only when the spirit moves you. It’s an ongoing process that should include every facet of your business life. This means your mental attitude, physical well-being and appearance, work atmosphere, your interaction with others (clients and employees alike), and your off-the-job environment.

Motivational experts get paid big bucks to tell professionals, striving for success, that they must constantly examine these factors. How do you do that? Follow the 5 tips that follow, and watch the changes.

  1. Maintain a Positive Attitude – Let’s realize that life is only 10% of what happens to us and 90% how we react to it. We’re responsible for our own actions and attitudes, and changing them when appropriate. When you’re around people/things that are uplifting and positive, you feel that way. You have more confidence in yourself, and know you can change whatever needs changing. If you can make your workplace such a place you’ll find happier workers and higher production. You might even find your employees look forward to coming to work!

  1. Leave Personal Troubles Home – Everyone has problems, but they don’t belong at work. Turn your attention and energy entirely to your on-the-job tasks. This will actually be good for you because you’ll get a mental break from your troubles.

  2. Create Positive Affirmations – The reason for writing goals for your business is the same as creating positive affirmations on paper. What your eyes see and ears hear, your mind will believe. Try it! After you’ve written them down, read them aloud to yourself – and do it every morning when you get into work. You’ll be amazed at what happens. Come up with a set of new ones every month. Statements such as, “I’m an important and valuable person,” or “I know I’ll make good use of my time today.” Repeating them out loud everyday at a set time will help reinforce positive actions.

  1. Make Sure Break Times Are Really Break Times – This is an area where most bosses/entrepreneurs fall down. You become so intense about the project or situation you’re working on that you don’t ease up. Thinking that it’ll be solved in the next few seconds, and then you’ll get a cup of coffee can lead you right up to quitting time. Regularly adhering to a specified break schedule, even if you’re the boss, releases the tension. If you work on a computer this is even a greater problem because before you realize it – you’ve been working in that same position for hours. The best answer to this is to set yourself a reminder on your appointment calendar for every 2 hours, and let the computer reminder chime send you the alert to move around.

  1. Exercise, Exercise, Exercise – I know that lately it seems that “exercise” is the cure-all to every physical ailment or your love life, but despite that there is some truth to that ugly word. By “exercise” I don’t mean that you should go out and join a gym and spend your lunch-time, 3-days-a-week there working out. What is really beneficial and workable is that at those chiming alerts from your computer, get up and walk around your desk or room. Maybe go outside and get the mail and enjoy the sunlight (if you’re an entrepreneur that has a home office), or just get up and do a few stretches. Concentrated, tense thinking – typing – plotting plans – or whatever your work, makes all those muscles tighten up and knot up. Then when we move we “ooh” and “ouch” because we’ve knotted up into a ball of tension. Periodic stretching, even at our desk, or just getting up and walking over to the window and getting a different view can help. One of the greatest disservice modern business décor has done to us, is making our offices pristine, sleek, unencumbered spaces. There is nothing more relaxing than getting up from your desk and walking over to a peaceful, serene, seascape or pastoral painting and just drinking it in visually. Momentarily transporting your mind out of work and into that place does wonders. A few good paintings and less shiny chrome in offices would benefit us all.

It only takes a little concentrated effort on our part to keep motivated and productive, which leads to success. I know you’re going to hate hearing this, but it’s true anyway – and that is, “WHEN LIFE GIVES YOUR LEMONS – MAKE LEMONADE!”

Finding your “Niche”

When you are considering starting an online company, you want to make sure you find the right product. What do you want to sell. What is your passion. What subject or topic do you have a lot of knowledge about. Let me start by telling you that selling an information product online is easier than selling a service. But, selling a service online makes more money with monthly memberships.

Before you spend all your time working on a website and writing up eBooks, you want to be sure that your customers are going to be interested in what you are selling. Do your market research. Start by seeing how many competitors you have -this is a good sign. Read through newsgroups, discussion boards, and chat rooms and learn about your target market customer base. If you already have an email list, send them a survey to see what they are most interested in.

Most internet marketers preach that there are three reasons why a customer will want to buy your product. Your product has solved a problem for your customer. Your product has made life easier or more comfortable for your customer. You are very passionate about your product and it shows in everything you do.

When researching your niche, you may want to use and find the current top sellers. Find out what people are reading about. You will want to research keywords with keyword tools such as You need to discover which keywords are being searched for frequently.

Doing a little poking around your competitors sites isn’t a bad idea. This is one way to come up with ideas on what would make your company different or better. Take a look at their traffic rankings and their related links. By analyzing this information, you can see how many visitors they have each day and how profitable their company is.

Once you find your passion, ask yourself does this serve my customers. You want to provide an excellent service to each and every person that spends their money with you. This cuts down on complaints, bad reputations, and, worse of all, chargeback’s.

EBook Writing Business

If you are a savvy writer with great English grammar skills, you should consider writing eBooks. It pays very well and you can do it in the comfort of your own home. It is very simple to write up an eBook. All you need to do is have Microsoft word and the internet. Do some research first on the topic. Know everything you can know about it, read up on it and save some quotes in your favorites area. You may want to stop by the local library to pick up some books on the topic too. That will help you when writing up your eBook.

EBooks should be between 50 – 75 pages depending on the topic and what the assignment is. After you have thoroughly researched your topic and you know a lot about it you want to create a table of contents. You want the chapters to flow freely from one thought to the other. Make sure you cover as much as you can about the topic and title each chapter, writing a few notes about what you want to write about -which you will delete later.

The next step would be just to get started on it! Start writing creatively, from your heart, not just spitting out facts on a paper. People are reading your eBook because they do not want to read and search for information located everywhere about a specific topic. They want a concise, easy to read; interesting eBook they can print out and curl on the couch with. It goes without saying that no one should ever plagiarize; not only is it unlawful, it is disrespectful.

Always spell check and edit your work by reading it when you have finished. Polish it off by organizing each chapter into an eBook. Come up with a savvy title that catches the audience. If you really enjoy this line of business, you could do this full time and quit your day job.

Characteristics to be an Effective Entrepreneur

Before a doctor diagnoses a specific disease, his patient must undergo a series of laboratory exams and assessments. He has to know the history of his patient and how lifestyle affected his present health problem. As results come in, that would be an indication of the time when a physician gives specific drugs and therapies for maintenance. This will eventually contribute to the level of optimum health for that individual. If all else fails, the process will be repeated again.

Similar to what the abovementioned situation has stated, an entrepreneur’s responsibility would be pretty much the same. It’s just that, he should see his customers as his patients and what they must have to survive a present predicament or a need. He must follow certain steps before doing anything irrational that could contribute to the downfall of his business. He should have certain characteristics innate in his personality for if he lacks one of these, he’s most probably doomed to fail.

Entrepreneurship is collectively defined as exhibiting one’s vision, taking action, and pursuing that vision as a goal to be achieved in life as service to reality. In the meaningless definition, it’s getting your butt out of that couch and doing something rather than fulfilling your life’s destiny of being a couch potato. Stated below are some of the distinct attitudes an entrepreneur should positively have:

• Optimism – is foreseeing things in a positive way notwithstanding any circumstances that may hinder progress. The assertiveness of an individual depends on his knowledge of how to handle a difficult situation

• Creativity – is thinking outside the box. Expanding one’s mind of what is beyond the ordinary through fine research and collection of data.

• Stability – either physical, mental, social or emotional, a leader must possess a stable life which means he could handle tough situations during tough times

• Charismatic – intelligence of communicating with different walks of life. Who says a charming man is less than an intelligent one? A good entrepreneur must have the certain magic glistening in his eyes and could convey enchanting words to get hold of that convincing power no one dare resist.

• Risk-taker – as someone beginning his own dream, he should be stern and must have the guts and the balls to take the big leap of plunging into his own doom or success. He should not be afraid of taking chances when opportunity strikes.

• Energetic – willing to do whatever it takes to reach to the finish line. His drive must always be at its highest level for being an entrepreneur would make you work overtime. His enthusiasm must prevail the next best thing.

• Time bound – like a written report in a newspaper, an entrepreneur must be on the top of every innovation. By looking at our past, we could predict our future.

Small businesses, in time, would turn out big if the scope of management exceeds what is expected. So it is necessary for a beginner to be positive about his endeavors. He must be very observant of what his environment lacks and needs. He should have sturdy shoulders to put on extra weight of carrying a responsibility that could change his or her life.

One’s greatest failure is sticking with the mentality of being conventional. This would be one of an entrepreneur’s greatest downfalls. Think big. Act. Make your business dreams come true.

An Online Newsletter

When you start an online newsletter you have the opportunity to collect opt-in email addresses to build your subscription base and establish creditability with your subscribers so that they may want to purchase products from you, a trusting source.

The best part about an online newsletter is that it is free to start up. With an online newsletter you can offer your subscribers juicy daily or weekly information and they will love it. It will slowly build up their curiosity and they may purchase a monthly membership or products from you because they love receiving the information you supply.

Now, if you send them junk, the complete opposite will occur, so having an online newsletter takes work, but you can always pay someone to do it for you. So, with all this work put into it should you consider charging for subscription. That depends on what you want to accomplish. Do you want to attract visitors and entice them to your main product. Or are you only offering an online newsletter with no products. How often do you send out autoresponders and how in depth and valuable is your newsletter. Is this information easily found free somewhere else on the Internet.

Free newsletters are much easier because you can get a lot of people opt-in and you can sell them a subscription in the future. Everyone loves free stuff. Occasionally, at the end of the email you may want to offer special subscriber only promotions or notify your subscribers of new products or services. You could even offer special subscriber only bonuses with a purchase.

By the way, if you send your subscribers what begins to look like sales letters, they will opt out quicker than you can say wait! Be careful because this is your potential customer crowd and it is like gold to you.

21st Century Business Women

When the first generation of women entered the workforce in earnest in the 1970s, they succeeded in the only way they could – by imitating men. Authoritarian leadership and tight control was the hallmark of that day’s businessman, and women were not exactly welcomed into the ranks of management. Well ladies, that was yesterday, and today is today!

Forget what your mama or your boss told you, because following the rules can be bad for your career. Today’s CEO/entrepreneur can no longer tap his/her company’s full potential using a “command-and-control” style. The 21st century business woman needs to be able to build a vision based on the awareness of economic transformation, then help her partners and staff fulfill that vision. She must draw on a wide range of skills to get to the top and stay there. Following are 7 Key Characteristics that are essential:

  1. Sell the Vision: A leader with a fresh, independent plan for her company’s growth and future has a distinct advantage in luring and keeping great talent and investors. Vision is not some lofty ideal, but an obtainable concept that is easy to understand and will make the company grow to another level.

  2. Reinvent the Rules: While women have traditionally been socialized to please others, the 21st century leader knows that good girls rarely post great returns. The strong managers/owners today not only anticipate change, they create entirely new organizations that respond to shifts and search for innovation.

  3. Achieve With A Laser Focus: Go where others fear to tread! Being aggressive and ambitious has long been considered male traits, but they are key qualities for new leaders. Today’s business woman has the ability to home in on opportunities that others may simply not see, and then excel in that uncharted territory.

  4. Use High-Touch in a High-Tech Era: When a number of leaders are conducting business by e-mail, voice mail, passwords, and PINs, the female entrepreneur succeeds because she guides with a strong, personal, bed-side manner. Today’s business woman is just as technologically savvy as her peers, but her skill with staff and customers is “high-touch” which gives her a critical edge and separation from the “pack”.

  5. Challenge or Opportunity? – Women are great at turning a challenge into an opportunity instead of using the “slash-and-burn” approach. They are able to make bold strokes, but they also win the cooperation of others in the organization in making any transformation a success.

  6. A Customer Preference Obsession: In this information age which makes it easier to shop around for the best “whatever”, businesses must work harder to give people what they want before their competitors do. There is no substitute for spending time with clients to become expert at their businesses and learn their demands. Female leaders are almost intuitively adept in doing just that, and without the client even suspecting.

  7. Courage Under Fire: Show me any career woman or female entrepreneur today that isn’t able to “stand-the-heat” in any tough-call situation. Their decision-making skills are rooted in a high level of confidence, because they’ve had to weather and surpass any and all “corporate” storms they’ve encountered over time.

It takes a certain mind-set and bravado for anyone to start their own business and succeed, but it’s even more difficult for a female entrepreneur. Let’s face it, ladies! We’ve always had to be twice-as-smart and twice-as-confident as any male counterpart in the corporate world. After all, if we can bear and raise the future generation, how can running a successful business scare us?

Every year thousands of men and women across America sign on with direct selling firm-Tupperware, Amway, or a cosmetic company-hoping to make money enough for new draperies, a new davenport, or some new clothes. They sell a little merchandise toa few relatives and close friends. Then they are through. They quit before they give themselves a chance to learn the basics of success in sales. “I am simply not a born salesperson,” they often say.

No one is born a salesperson, any more than one is born a doctor or born a lawyer. Sales is a profession. To be successful in any profession one must learn not only the basic techniques, but also how to apply those techniques. Success in sales makes use of all the abilities one is born with, plus all those acquired through education and experience.

If you are looking for a career opportunity or “extra income” to help with the family budget, direct selling offers you dream-fulfilling possibilities. However, you must give yourself time to learn the techniques of sales. Ask yourself. “How long does a doctor to be study? A lawyer to be study?”

Direct selling is marketing a product directly to the consumer with no middleman involved. Most reliable firms are members of the National Association of Direct Selling Companies. They bring to the public fine products that are modestly priced in order to insure mass consumption.

Most direct selling companies furnish their representatives with a starter kit and essential supplies below-cost prices. In many instances the investment is under $100.

There is an old adage which says “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”

Many of them were able to change their lives for the better. They took their families on nice vacations. They purchased a piano or an organ and provided music lessons for their children. They saved money for college education. They redecorated their homes, bought needed furniture. One highly successful saleslady built a new home.

The rewards of direct selling are many

1. You can be your own boss.

2. You can set your own hours.

3. You can own your own businesses with little or no investment.

4. You can pay yourself more than any boss would ever pay you.

5. You can give yourself regular raises as your business grows.

It is only fair to tell you that there are failures, too. There are people who will not work for themselves. When working for a boss, they rise early, are well-groomed, and get to the office on time. However, when they are their own boss, they are still in a bathrobe, drinking one more cup of coffee at 11:00 A.M. If you can be your own boss and discipline yourself to do what has to be done when it has to be done, direct selling offers a most unusual earning opportunity.

Here are ten steps that will assure your success:

1. BE A GOAL SETTER. What do you want to accomplish? Do you want to save for college education for your children? A new car? A new home? You can have whatever you want, but you must want it enough to do the things that have to be done to get it. Whatever your goal, write it down and set a target date for reaching it.

Divide the time period into blocks of achievement that are reachable. Work consistently toward accomplishing each day, each week, each month what you set out to do. Goal-setting is a must in every area of life. Little is ever accomplished without definite goals.

2. BE A LIST MAKER. Each evening list all the things you want to get done the following day. That gives you an organized approach to each day. As each task is finished, mark it off your list. It is amazing how much gets done when one works with a “things-to-do” list. Also, have a notebook listing appointments, potential clients, repeat clients, and referrals, and keep it with you at all times. You will be adding to it constantly.

3. BE ENTHUSIASTIC. Enthusiasm is the high-octane “fuel” that salespeople run on. Enthusiasm generates its own energy. Energy and good health are synonymous with busy, happy people, people who are achieving.

4. RECOGNIZE THAT THE MAGIC WORD IN SALES IS “ASK.” In direct sales we don’t have to wait for business to come to us. We create our own business by asking for it. Ask for appointments, then you can do business. Ask for business, then you will close sales. Ask for referrals, then you always have a full list of potential clients. Be quietly, yet firmly aggressive.

5. EXPECT NO’S. Realize that no’s are not personal. In sales, as perhaps nowhere else, the law of averages works. Every no gets you closer to a yes. Keep track of your ratio. It will help improve your techniques. Are you getting ten no’s to one yes? Is your ratio five to one? Remember, the yes’s are your income. Also remember that “no” does not necessarily mean “no.” Often a “no” is simply a stall for more time to think. It may be a request for more information about your product or your service. What your client is actually buying is assurance. Assure here by your helpful attitude and your complete honesty, that you want what is best for her. She will most likely respect you and do business with you.

6. SCHEDULE TIME WISELY. A schedule is the roadmap by which salespeople travel. It takes the frustration out of the day. It assures that the necessary things get done and get done on time. Plan your work then work your plan.

7. BE POSITIVE IN YOUR ATTITUDE. Success in sales, as in all areas of life is 90 percent attitude and 10 percent aptitude. All of us must work at developing habits of constructive thinking. I am proud to be a salesperson. Sales make the wheels of our economy turn. Bernard Baruch, advisor to several presidents, is quoted as saying, “If every salesperson sat down and took no orders for twenty-four hours, it would bankrupt our country!” Every company that manufactures any kind of product depends upon salespeople to move that product. Without salespeople business would be paralyzed. Remember, sales is one of the highest paid of all professions. Statistics show that good salespeople enjoy incomes far above the average.

8. HAVE AN OFFICE AREA. Most direct salespeople work from their own homes, but it is essential to have a place where you can work in a organized and efficient manner. An office plus a strict working schedule gives you dignity. Both are absolutely essential for efficient operation and accurate record keeping, so important to the success of any business.

9. BE INVOLVED. Most sales organization offer contests to stimulate production. Include winning contests as part of your business goals. Contests make your business fun as well as adding considerable dollar value to your income.

10. LEARN TO HANDLE MONEY INTELLIGENTLY. A regular nine-to-five job usually means a paycheck at the end of the second week. Direct sales “reps” handle money constantly. Direct sales is instant income and constant income. Therefore. it is absolutely necessary to become an efficient money manager.

Deposit every penny collected from clients into a checking account set up especially for its business. Since bank statements show an exact record of all monies collected, and business expenses can be verified by canceled checks, record keeping becomes simple and accurate. Everything except a few “petty cash” transactions can be directly taken from bank statements. Money saved regularly and put at interest, soon develops a second income in addition to earned income. A long-term goal, which is realistic in direct sales, is to be able to live in retirement off the interest earned on savings.

Would financial security mean a lot to you? If so, ask yourself these questions:

* Am I honest?

* Do I really like people?

* Am I willing to learn?

* Am I willing to work?

* Am I capable of being my own boss?

If your answers are yes, to find a good product for the direct sales market, one that you like, one that fills the need of a lot of people, and go to work for yourself! .You can turn dreams into reality.

Stop Living on Autopilot

Living life on autopliot, business men going off to work, business consultants, e-commerce
Living life on autopilot, following in the footsteps of our parents, siblings or friends and generally lacking motivation and self-esteem isn’t the life that we would want for ourselves or our loved ones. How can we make life more interesting and more positive? How can we work towards achieving the life we want or desire? Answer: very simply, by following a few easy steps towards creating lifetime goals and achievements.

How do we improve our lives: by doing the little things that we do each day? Where do we start? Good question, it’s not easy however the best place to start is with our direct environment and the stimulus that we subject ourselves to. We can start with what we listen to on a daily basis as this affects the way we think about ourselves, others and the world in which we live. Most of all it subconsciously affects our thoughts.

Instead of living your life on autopilot, letting any and every thought come into our minds we should make a conscious effort to filter our thoughts and enable our minds to think positively. This will enable us to assess our thought patterns and our actions before we act. Positive actions are always better than negative ones. Retraining our brains to only think positive is not an easy challenge especially in the world in which we live. There are however, things that we can do to help the process along.

One way of reprogramming our brains to receive positive thoughts is through monitoring the stimuli that our brains process each and every day. Instead of reading fiction, magazines or newspapers why not read inspirational books or listen to classical music, especially baroque music as its said to be: ‘intelligent music’. It’s never a good thing to listen to the news or to read the newspapers, normally the information contained in the media is of a negative nature and can be potentially damaging to us. The media inject us with negative information each and every day and it is absorbed into our subconscious just like a hypodermic syringe injects into flesh.

Just think about your journey to work each day. How many adverts on billboards do you pass each day, injecting subliminal messages into your subconscious brain? How many times did the news come on during your journey to work only to inject you with the negative happenings of the world around you? How many newspapers did you glance at in the lobby at your office or place of work? It is a guestamate; however my guess is that most of us are directly affected by the media on a day-to-day basis and over time.

Life on autopilot is boring and monotonous and as we get bogged down by the day-to-day stresses of work, family and finance we become overwhelmed by unnecessary stress. This is where others come in to the equation. We all need someone to talk to at times, being by yourself all of the time isn’t conducive to good health and close support network is vital to good health.

If you feel in need of support you could call on a helpful, positive minded friend to assist you in assessing the situation at hand. You could join a local club, church or other organisation. You could brainstorm until you have an answer that you are happy with then discuss it with someone in the know. The one thing that you shouldn’t do is to ask the advice and guidance from someone who knows less about the situation than you do. Most of us are guilty of this, we ask friends, family and work colleagues what they think and they give us their valued point of view. The question is; how helpful is their answer?

YouTube can be a positive source of inspiration; there are plenty of inspirational people out there including Tony Robbins, Les Brown, Zig Zigglar Jim Rohn, Dennis Waitley etc. There are so many of them that if I carried on naming them one by one this blog would be about men that have found the answers to all of their problems. It’s not that blog that could be the next one.

Avoid the naysayers at all costs; they’ll only bring you down. You’ll find that you finally get inspired by something, encouraged to go out there and make your mark then someone will say something to dissuade you. My advice to you is Ignore them! Go and do what it is that you need to do as long as it hurts no one or anything. If you fancy going on a helicopter ride at the ripe old age of 92 then do it. You never know when you’ll next get the chance. The worst thing that will happen to you if you don’t carry through with your aims and goals is that you’ll look back on life with regret and think, I wish I had have… The thing is, do you want to put yourself in that position?

Avoid the path of least resistance and keep a journal every day as this will allow you to monitor your thoughts and actions and make value judgements and changes that you need to make to your life. Make sure that you start every single day with a gratitude list and input it into your journal. What you think about each and every day directly affects your outcome. If you write down everything that happens to you every day with a positive slant attached to it, it won’t be long before things start to look up.

Why not try Affirmations, they seem silly and no doubt you feel silly doing them. If this is the case then they are not going to and will not work for you. Affirmations are supposed to affirm your mind, your subconscious mind that you are… x, y and z. The sub conscious mind you see does not know the difference between what is real and what is imagined. So if you imagine with affirmations and imagery you are in with a chance to convince your brain that you are… x, y and z.

Positivity is not easy and especially not easy to maintain on an on-going basis however, I promise you that if you practice with intent and the conviction and the commitment that is needed to achieve then you will succeed. It only takes 21 days for the neural pathways in the brain to reproduce and 30 days for repetitive actions to become a habit. However, to achieve this state takes relentless repetition, dedication and self-discipline. Trues self-discipline involves relentless practice, practice, practice, practice through the use of mental imagery and physical dedication. Sounds touch I know nevertheless, worth it.

So when people say they can’t give up x, y and z it isn’t because it’s an addiction that can’t be overcome. It’s because the challenge is too difficult for them at that point in time and they are not committed to achieving the change that they want to see. Commitment to the cause and the innate desire to change and improve is at the foundation of every success story.

Change isn’t easy; nonetheless positivity is the way forward.

The First Five Steps to Becoming Successful

success is a long journey

What’s your ‘Big What’?

We can all have ideas and aspirations but without a clear map of where we are going our efforts will result in failure. So before you start out on your journey to success, be very clear about what you want to do and why you want to achieve. Be specific; don’t state random things such as I want to be rich . . . What’s that mean? If you want to be a millionaire then state: ‘I want £2.3 million in my bank account by . . .’ Don’t be unrealistic and sit there watching TV checking your bank balance every other day expecting £2.3 million to have been dropped into your bank account by some mysterious force. It’s not going to happen. I’ll tell you what will make it happen. Motivation and drive to achive that Big What that you are going to decide on. So be very clear what it is you want and wh you want it or you’ll be on the big success bus to know where.

What’s The Cost

If you ask any millionaire how they got where they are today none of them will tell you that they got there by sitting on the coach every night complaining that their 9 to 5 job is doing their head in. No they decided on their road map and then set about putting things in motion to ensure it happened. Just like going on a vacation, it takes a lot of planning and the biggie to most of us, including millionaires id ‘ how the heck am I going to fund this project’/ Most people stuck in the 9 to 5 pay check life just can’t see past the need for money. Others who are prepared to take risks see that the world is full of money and start thinking up ways of creating the funds that they need. Number one pointer, probably the most important: ‘You don’t have to be rich to be successful. You have to have the persona of success to become rich’! Yes I know change is hard, life is hardbut if you want to be a millionaire entrepreneur then you’ve got to get off the sofa and start scribbling down your road map. It ain’t going to happen without it.

For Goodness Sake Focus!

So you’ve got this road map and you now have some idea of where you are going and what you want to achieve. You have an idea of where to get funding from and how to motivate yourself but why the heck can’t you focus. I bet that before you even finish reading this sentence you’ve started thinking about lunch, tea or sports in fact probably anything. Learn to silence your mind and to only concentrate on one thing at a time or aiming high is a waste of time. You might as well throw your road map in the bin and save yourself and others energy and money because without focus you won’t get anywhere. So Focus on whatever it is you want to achieve.

Who’s Backstage?

No one ever made it to the top by themselves. History is full of people who made it and yet those who helped them up the ladder never get a mention. I guess you have to receive and Oscar or something before your trusted crew get a mention. Always remember that no one has all of the knowledge or experience and it takes a group of people with shared knowledge, experience and finances to make that road map with it’s final destination happen. So once you’ve decided what it is you want to do go and look for a group of successful people whom you can lever insider information from. Create yourself a mastermind group and don’t be scared to ask as most successful businessmen love to help those on the way up.

Start Small and Invest in Your Best

It’s human nature to want to excel yourself to the top of the ladder as soon as humanly possible but in the entrepreneurial world starting small is best. Start small with baby steps making sure that you surround yourself with business/success minded individuals. Don’t ever let the naysayers pull you down, keep you back. Have you ever taken business advice from someone who works a 9 to 5 job? If you have, stop it! Have you ever taken financial advice from someone who always appears to be broke? If so, stop it! Take advice from people on whatever front you aim to work in that have proven themselves. If you don’t know of any such people check out Most successful people have YouTube channels and are willing to share their journey with you. Why don’t you build your own channel and start your own journey online, you never know where it will get you. Always be and do your best, plan and follow your map. If you find out somewhere down the line your map is wrong, consult someone who can help you get back on track but whatever you do . . . DO NOT GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAM because the success is just on the horizon for your taking.

Social Media Marketing - where to get your free information fromAs the owner of a small business you don’t always have the time to write stunning social media content or to update your website with interesting and useful information. Neither might you have the time or funds to write or pay for regular blog entries to keep your readers hooked.

At times it may seem as though you are sinking surrounded with work you don’t have time to do and finances begin to act like a chain around your leg pulling you deeper into the never ending ocean paperwork and Web stuff to write. It doesn’t have to be like this though.

There are several ways that you can find interesting information from the web without paying for it and without spending huge amounts of time writing it. The secret is Public domain content. These can include books, articles, films, photos and more.

Two of the best places that you can grab your free public domain films and books are and Project Gutenberg. These are probably the best known resources for public domain films and books.

One of the main points to remember when using public domain work is that it is not your. You cannot lay claim to creating it so it is wise to post a note at the bottom of your article or blog to say that the work posted is in the public domain. And should it not be you will remove it immediately. This keeps you out of trouble and allows the owner the right to ask you to remove it. If I were them I’d just ask for a credit to say it was my work with a link back to their website. OH look, we’ve just created a valuable and honest backlink. Just a note of caution just because something appears in the public domain it does not mean that it is a public domain article, photo, film or book. So make sure you double check which features of the public domain work you are using is considered as having public domain rights.

The best thing about public domain works is that once you have modified it, it no longer is the original so you then own the rights to the modified version. Be careful though, don’t fall into the plagarised version of modification make your version original in its own way.

This article should help you to find a quicker easier way of building content and writing blogs with limited time. One last note always make your articles useful and engaging with a fab picture to make them stand out in a crowd.

budget, finances, business, small business, administration, outsourcing

With every business venture there a significant ups and significant lows but this doesn’t mean that the business is not worth the effort. Most failing or failed business people tell me that it was down to a lack of cash flow. This may have been the case prior to the internet explosion but now days it is just an excuse for not being business savvy.  Why do I say this? I say this because nearly everything that you need software or tool wise can be found on the internet for free. ‘What about services I here you say, they’re not free’! No they are not but for this aspect of business you have two choices. You can learn to do it yourself for nothing by researching on the internet or by taking online ‘free’ courses in your chosen subject or by using such sites as,,, and

The number one business tip that all new businesses need to adhere to is:

Put your money where it will be productive.

Below you can find a few money saving tips on how to start and develop an effective and efficient business on a small budget

  • Don’t hire staff, outsource.

There are plenty of places that you can outsource your jobs to from virtual assistants to video editing firms. Now days anything can be undertaken cheaply and to be honest from my experience the quality of work is to a high standard because people are using these sites to gain experience, build international portfolios and in most cases to supplement their incomes. Try for any business related task. If you want a more office based task try, or We are on all four and do very nicely from these sites. Administration tasks can also be outsourced through a number of sites including,, and

  • Don’t layout £$000’s on software packages

Don’t spend huge amounts of money on software that you can get for next to nothing each month. We are not talking about free illegal downloads from share sites. We are talking about gaining the best business software that you need to run your business effectively and efficiently at the least cost possible. We’ll explain what we mean in a moment. But before we go on to explain, we want to point out that large multi-conglomerate organisations are also in a position where they can’t afford to waste money. That’s what makes them successful: they make sure that the right staff, business model and leadership are in place to deal with a growing customer base, product development and international relations, marketing and production. Take a look at why google are so successful: Small businesses need to apply the rules that large businesses do but on a smaller basis to succeed. Don’t go out and buy the best of the best when you are just starting out. You just don’t need it and if you do need it we’ll show you how to get it on a shoestring or for FREE. We like FREE!

So Here we go:

  • Bookkeeping: Most small businesses need their bookkeeping doing for them as this is the most time consuming task that the business demands and let’s face it most people run in the other direction or have panic attacks when numbers come in to the frame. You can outsource this to a company like ours that will do all of the hard work and give it back to you in a format you understand or you could outsource it on e-lance. Either way, you don’t have to worry about your books or the cost of employing consultants or staff to take care of it. A one off fee leaves you knowing where you stand. If you decide that you still want to take care of your own books you can find free bookkeeping software from Turbo Cash called Turbocash 5, this appears to be the best free tool available. You can find the free download here:
  • General Software: Let’s use Adobe Photoshop as an example. It’s a lot of Money and it’s just another software package that you need but can’t afford. You have two options. You can use Irfanview, downloadable for free from a number of sites or you can continue to use Photoshop, but pay monthly by creating an account with Creative Cloud. We spend $8 a month on our subscription and that gives us access to adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Lightroom. This comes to $96 per year and you can cancel at any time. If you are unable to create your own marketing, promotional material you can hire a good graphic designer for all of your needs from here: I have used Fiverr on a personal basis with success for nearly two years now. They have created, movies, flyers, digital artwork, book covers, you name it they’ve created it and I haven’t been unhappy about the work delivered once.
  • Customer Relationship Management: ‘What’? I hear you shout. Don’t worry it’s a fancy name for saying: ‘This is how I am going to look after my customers and manage my affairs’. There are so many cheap, value for money CRM packages out there now that you can pay for on a monthly basis. Insightly have a free package which will be good enough for a start-up or newly developing business or you can opt for their $7 a month package which will provide you with everything you need. You can find them here:
  • What about business cards and Flyers: Always have a business card at the ready. Give it to everyone you come in contact with after building rapport with them. Don’t just hand them out or they will go in the bin or wallet never to be used. Most people now do not use business cards they use mobile contacts. So always have your contact details set up in a text so you can text them to potential customers following your rapport building session. Look at every conversation as a potential sale and you won’t go far wrong. If you still want to use business cards then the cheapest place to get them is They have just about everything you could want for marketing and advertising at a reasonable cost and the quality isn’t bad either.
  • Marketing: Yes marketing! It is a major part of your business and if you neglect it you won’t have a business. You can have the best product or service in the world but if no one knows about it, you fail! Marketing can be done in many different ways. Currently social media is the way to go but be sure not to put all of your eggs in one basket. There are many social media platforms out there and whilst it’s important to be on as many as possible the main forums are Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+. Pinterest, Tumblr and Stumble are also good platforms to be seen on.
  • Don’t forget about e-mail marketing. Grow your list and send out promotional items, useful free information and value to your customers. You can use mailchimp for this process or through an autoresponder attached to your website. Awebber is by far the best tool for achieving this task and comes at a fee of £19 per month. Mail chimp however, is FREE. If you want to take a look at a review for both tools check here:
  • Website: You do not need to hire someone to build a website for you. You do not need to spend £$000’s on website maintenance. If you are a technophobe then use Godaddy. It’s simple and easy to use and they even do the hosting for you. You will need to purchase a domain name which you can do with them too. If you are better able to use computer based programmes WordPress is the best you can get. Be careful though. If you buy from you cannot install plug-ins which you will need to develop your site. Buy from and then download plug-in’s from WordPress. You can take a look here:
  • SEO for your website: ‘What’s that’! Don’t worry it’s just a fancy name to say. This is how google, Bing and other search engines find, track and see your website. It’s one of the ways that you will drive traffic to your website. WordPress provide a free all incorporated plug-in for SEO you do not need to buy one or even download one from any other source. Take a look here to see how google sees your site: Type in a URL at the top and take a look.
  • Do not spend hours and hours of your time on the phone looking for customers, it doesn’t work it just drives up your costs and deflates your motivation. The best way of getting local customers is by networking. Join your local business forums or associated forums and mingle, don’t be shy. Rehearse your patter and stick to it. Remembering that people aren’t interested in your product or service they are interested in how it will improve their situation or life experiences. Don’t sell them your product or service; sell them a solution to their problems. The main thing to remember here is that you are an expert whether you think you are or not and people want to listen to your solution for their problem. So give them what they want in a humble way.
  • Social media is the next best thing for local and global customers. Make sure you have a positive and ongoing presence and that you provide valuable content on a regular basis. If you can’t figure out what you should be writing about, nip over to or and post other people posts to your site. This is not illegal; you are not steeling anyone else’s work you are helping them to get out there. In helping them you help yourself, and Google will pick up that you have great content on your site. This helps to raise your rankings. We’ll discuss this in a future blog.

Hopefully you’re not feeling too overwhelmed with the information provided and we have done our best to explain the basics of business to you. We have designed a series of blogs to help you get up and running on a shoestring. Each blog is a bite sized chunk to help you get where you want to go.

After reading this blog you should be able to go away and implement it for yourself before you move on to reading stage two of the process. Let’s recap what we’ve covered below:

  1. Bookkeeping and administration
  2. Software packages
  3. Marketing
  4. Social Media
  5. Customers
  6. Website
  7. Website SEO

Virtual Assistant services

Your Business Should Hire a Virtual Assistant (VA)

Your Business Should Hire a Virtual Assistant (VA)

It’s not rocket science, to grow a business in this economy you have to cut costs and the easiest way to cut costs or to keep your costs down is to hire a virtual assistant rather than a full or part time member of staff. With a VA there are no hidden costs to consider such as payroll costs, sick pay, NI or pension contributions to pay. In fact there aren’t any associated costs attached to a VA apart from the initial cost per project or payment plan.

Most VA’s are their own bosses and work to their own timescales so achieving demanding, out of hours deadlines are not an issue. In most cases they are welcomed. They tend to work around your calendar to give you the benefit of their skills, experience and timescales. VA’s are a value added bonus to any business that is trying to grow.

Below are just some of the reasons why you should hire a virtual assistant to complete your tasks.

  • A VA consistently undertaking work that you don’t have time to do.
  • There’s no requirement for a physical office.
  • There are no organisation expenses as with permanent workers.
  • You don’t have to use any cash on representative preparing.
  • You won’t pay for any additional time incurred once the price has ben agreed.
  • A VA may have aptitudes that you don’t have but require ‘to get the job done’
  • A VA thinks about your business as their business

There is so much to do when trying to establish or grow a business, and you the business owner can fast become burnt out and run out of steam. As VA’s we’d love to help you grow your business the easy way and there’s nothing that we can’t do – because there is a team of us just waiting for you to give us the go ahead to work on developing your business.

How to do Twitter

Social Media Marketing - How to do Twitter

Do you need to grow your Social Media presence but don’t know where to start?

Starting with Twitter is the easiest way to go. It doesn’t take long to set up and once set up the amount of time it takes to post messages each day is limited to 140 characters. Below are some pointers to get you started.

1. Choose the right username for your business The first step in getting started on Twitter is creating your account. When creating your account, it’s important to remember that your username will be what the public uses to identify your business.i.e [email protected] is my ‘Handle’ and as such people can find my business name easily. Yoo-cht is registered as a business and my customers know where to find both my businesses hunterhawke and Yoo-cht. If your business name is not available you’ll want to come up with something that will still make sense to your followers [email protected] You want your username to be around 10 – 15 characters so your customers can “mention” your business without using too many of the 140 they have to use. You can also use hyperlinks to do this.

2. Create a Profile that captures your business niche not your hobbies Twitter is recognised as one of the most open social networks, as most of the communication on the site takes place in front of people in the news stream. Keep in mind when creating your profile, more people will find you on Twitter if they understand what your business is about. I.e. Hunterhawke virtual business solutions. If you had just 140 characters to explain your business to a complete stranger, what would you say?

3. Upload a photo or image that makes you stand out from the rest but make it relevant We see in pictures and we remember in pictures especially full colour. Make sure your profile picture stands out and shows what your business does. Don’t underestimate the importance of picking the right picture or image for your profile and don’t send tweets until you have uploaded a photo or people will not follow you. We humans like to see what we are doing and who we are doing it with. For businesses, the perfect profile image will be one that your customers already associate with your business such as your company logo.

4. Introduce yourself by sending your first tweet ‘Hello World’ Some people may disagree but it’s a polite way to introduce yourself to the world of Twitter and may encourage people to follow you. I recommend something like this:

5. Find the right people to follow, don’t just build a list of non-buyers and Bots Who you follow on Twitter will dictate the type of content you have access to and the quality of the relationships you’re able to establish. People you want to follow may include: friends, industry professionals, local businesses, colleagues, and current and potential customers. The key is to follow businesses similar to yours that are doing well pay attention to how they are engaging and the type of content they share and do the same but don’t copy them. This is not good practice

6. Tell your network/customers you’re on Twitter Growing your following on Twitter is not easy especially if you’re starting from scratch. If you are an established business your customers may have already joined your mailing list and they might likely wish to connect with you on Twitter too. Why not send out an email to your contact list, inviting people to follow you on Twitter.

7. Get the tools you need they’re free If you want to be successful on Twitter you want to make sure that you have the right tools to hand. There are a number of tools out there that you could use to enhance your performance. You can find three below:

  • Monitor your profile on the go with the Twitter mobile app
  • Schedule tweets and track your reach with Hootsuite
  • Stay on top of your activity with Nutshell Mail

8. Create your first Twitter List – but wait, get followers first Twitter lists allow users to organise the people that they follow into specific groups based on industry, relationship and expertise. When you’re first starting out Lists won’t be a top priority because you’ll still be growing your followers. You only need to create them when you really need them.

9. Save your searches, if they interest you or maybe needed further down the line Similar to Lists saved searches let users organise their content, it is best to save by content rather than user. Some ideas for searches to save include your business name, your name, the city/town that you’re in, industry related topics and popular hashtags.

10. Connect your customers where you provide an outlet – your touch point Would it surprise you to know that 80.5% of small businesses do not link to social media sites? In today’s digital age this is a big business mistake to make. Connecting your website to your Twitter profile will help drive traffic and organically build your social following. You’ll also want to make sure you’re inserting a link into your email newsletter with a strong call-to-action. We like providing free and informative information for our readers. If you’d like to be one of our customers then please drop us a line at: [email protected]

Don’t forget to have a plan! Let’s rewind quickly to the point when you first decided to sign up and log on to Twitter. What were you trying to accomplish? Were you looking to drive more business? Increase brand awareness? Establish yourself as an expert in your industry? Just being on Twitter won’t be enough to accomplish those goals—even if you follow these 10 steps to getting started. What will allow you to achieve those goals is having a social strategy about the way you plan to engage on Twitter, the type of content you want to share, and the milestones you hope to achieve. Your strategy probably will change once you get started, but without having one before you launch your first tweet, you won’t make it much further than these first 10 steps.
